It’s not over ’til it’s over … the countdown is on!  Right in the middle of COVID-19, civil unrest, a quarantine, with few people in Naples and Pelican Bay, with social distancing, no groups or gatherings to physically engage for signatures and support, the ONE NAPLES e-petition will be going to press with close to 3,000 signatures!  The cutoff date is set for Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at midnight.  At the moment, we are approaching  2,500+ ‘scrubbed’ signatures (duplications removed) and with a last minute push, we are hoping to reach 3,000 individual petitioners.

Afterwards, our next step will be to prepare our presentation and present the petition on your behalf, to (both) the Collier County Planning Commission (CCPC) and the Board of County Commissioners (BCC).  That first opportunity will probably occur at the Planning Commission meeting on August 20, 2020.

After the CCPC has conducted its thorough review of the amendment / rezone application, and reviewed the County staff comments, they will make a determination and recommendation for action to the BCC. At that point, One Naples will be put on the BCC meeting agenda for consideration and action. Presently, we expect that to happen in September or October, 2020, and will be presenting the petition again, at that meeting.

Many of you have been asking… What can I do?Please… remind your friends, neighbors and spouse, if they have not already done so, to go to our website, pbpoa.org and sign the petition.  Let them know they do not have to be a Pelican Bay resident to participate. Virtually everyone who passes through the US 41/Vanderbilt Beach Road stop light will be impacted by this massive and invasive project, as proposed.

In addition,  please take a few moments to send a message to each of our Collier County Planning Commission members and Board of County Commissioners. We’ve made it easy!Just Click the email link below for each member of the Collier County Planning Commission (CCPC) and Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to create a personalized email using the sample message (or or create your own), then hit ‘Submit’ and… Voila!
