Mission Statement
The Pelican Bay Property Owners Association exists to provide a unified, effective voice for residents on issues critical to our community’s well-being. Through advocacy and collaboration, we work to enhance the quality of life, safeguard property values, and represent resident interests in matters of local development, maintenance, and community standards. Our mission is to ensure that Pelican Bay remains a vibrant, welcoming, and well-maintained community that all residents are proud to call home.
History and Activities
Founded in 1984 and now celebrating our 40th year, the PBPOA has a history of advocating for the community, notably during Pelican Bay’s early development when it was the only residents’ organization in the area. Since then, it has expanded to focus on protecting residential values and quality of life through several key initiatives:
- Protecting Community Standards: PBPOA has led efforts against developments deemed intrusive, such as opposing high-rise buildings on the east side of Pelican Bay Boulevard and Cap d’Antibes, and limiting the impact of the proposed One Naples development.
- Advocating for Infrastructure: This includes opposing certain infrastructure changes, like bicycle lanes on Pelican Bay Boulevard and a fishing pier near Pelican Bay, as well as advocating for services such as the Vanderbilt Beach Library.
- Forming Alliances: The PBPOA’s efforts helped create the North Naples Community Alliance, a coalition that strengthens ties with neighboring communities.
- Community Engagement: The organization hosts forums and Listen & Learns on topics like constitutional amendments, local fire department consolidation, and other issues impacting the community.
Recognizing Community Contributors
PBPOA has also initiated an annual Person-of-the-Year award to honor individuals with sustained contributions to the Pelican Bay community. Past honorees include environmental advocates, community leaders, and foundational members who have significantly shaped the community.
