1. The meeting began at 3:00 pm, called to order by President Sanchez.
2. Present were 5 board members: Robert P. Sanchez, President Ted Raia, Vice President John Domenie, Treasurer Joe Bawduniak, Director Donna Raab, Director
3. President Sanchez determined that a quorum was present and moved to approve the May 9, 2019 board minutes. Motion passed.
4. President Sanchez welcomed members back who went to their northern residences for the summer months. He reminded members that it is illegal for trucks to unload vehicles in Pelican Bay.
5. Treasurer Domenie gave the Treasurer’s report. The current cash balances in the PBPOA bank accounts at Iberia Bank are as follows: checking is $16,086.31 and the CD is $150,000.00. Totaling $166,086.31. There was a summary given for July, August and September. Currently there are approximately 640 members and Treasurer Domenie urged fellow members to help recruit new members. New membership invitation invoices for 2020 will be going out in November.
6. Old Business a. Denise McLaughlin, board member of the Pelican Bay Services Division updated members of PB Services Division decision to replace all street signs with new signs that will have the strength to withstand several hurricanes. She informed the PBPOA that the survey has been completed for the sidewalks and there are bids out for design in concrete. Currently there are no plans for storm drain pipe replacement.
7. New Business a. President Sanchez spoke of the long term problems from Red Tide and told members that there will be an upcoming forum in December that will have a guest speaker from the Collier County Pollution Control who will share ways for residents to LIVE GREEN and SAVE BLUE.
8. Member Comments
a. John Gandolfo, board member of the Pelican Bay Foundation addressed the PBPOA board and its members that the Pelican Bay Foundation does recognize the important role Pelican Bay Property Owners Association and finds them to be very effective in getting the word out on issues concerning Pelican Bay. He urged members to attend their board meetings. He also addressed Director Bawduniak’s concern over the floor area ratio of homes being built in Pelican Bay that are much larger than current homes. Mr.Gandolfo informed the members that there is a design review committee that approves floorplans for new construction.
b. Louise Dowd informed members that County Commissioner Andy Solis has made many efforts to find ways to allow people to utilize the beach. There was an arrangement made with a local transportation company to shuttle people to Delenor Wiggins State Park. She also reported that the Seagate parking garage has been put on hold.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:00. The next board meeting will be held Thursday November 21, 2019 at 3 PM.
